Tell us a little about yourself!
Hello! I am a proud mom to 4 not so little human being and a pawrent to an adorable bunny 🐰
How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?
Some 5 years ago, I chanced upon Salsa and Bachata dance at Senor Taco in Clarke Quay. I was totally mesmerized by the dancers flaunting their moves and I told myself, I must learn those dance haha. When pandemic hits me with a combo of 2 consecutive years of PSLE and O levels, I needed my sanity back! So I went and tried many activities from running, to cycling and yoga, until I found Caliente Dance Studio on dancegowhere. That was it, Caliente Dance Studio topped my go-to-fitness list! I started with Solo shines classes for both Salsa and Bachata about year ago, Lo and behold I’m exploring all the partner social dance classes too now!
What is your favourite dance class and why?
Hmmmm every dance has its own special characteristics. It may be the elegant Zouk social dance and Bachata social dance, as I felt that it is my preferred kind of dance pace. However, Salsa also makes me happy! Its fast paced music and exciting turns, made me laugh throughout the dance lesson. Solo shines classes are also close to my heart… Can you tell which is my favourite dance class by now? I can’t too lol
What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?
There are health benefits from increased stamina, stress reliever, to name a few. It is also great for mental and emotional health. I feel that dance brings people together and provides them with a sense of community with people that have the same interests and passion.
What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?
Just go for it! It’s never too late to start dancing, plus it’s beneficial to your mind and body. So, no matter what age you are, you will still feel the benefits of a healthy happy dose of movement on each dance lesson.
