Tell us a little about yourself!
Hi, I am Aidy from Malaysia! I have been working in Singapore for about 10 years in the construction industry. I am not really good in social situations. Actually, attending the partner social dance class was really challenging for me at first. I thought I wouldn’t survived beyond level 1, but I made it to level 4! Hurray!
How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?
I used to watch this Taiwanese chat show called "康熙來了" and was constantly inspired by the host, who showcased fantastic dance skills with each step, while also displaying gorgeous postures. I would often daydreamed about being able to dance like her until I discovered Caliente Dance Studio!
What is your favourite dance class and why?
I like Salsa at levels 3 and 4 because I prefer faster-paced songs and quick movements.
What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?
I really enjoy the moments when a Latin song is accented through the dance moves. Sometimes attending dance classes after work is quite tiring. However, when the music starts and the instructor starts to teache the movements, focusing on perfecting the steps makes me forget all the tiredness. It truly helps me de-stress, whether it's from workloads or mental stress.
What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?
I feel that dancing can help alleviate stress, especially when combined with socialising and music. It's like bringing sunlight into the darkness. I strongly encourage anyone feeling depressed or stressed in their current life to try stepping out and making a simple Salsa dance move— 1, 2, 3 - 5, 6, 7 💃.
Which Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk song do you like the most?
"¡Pasaporte!" was our wedding Salsa dance song. The song symbolises our freedom to travel and explore life together.
