Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Shereen

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata dancer! 😍

Meet Shereen 🌸 a gorgeous lady who does both solo and partner dance classes.

How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata in Singapore?

Because of my love for Latin music, I went for my first Salsa and Bachata Partner class in 2020. I instantly fell in love with the dance but had to stop going for classes when Circuit Breaker happened. So I have been watching YouTube tutorials online and learning from them in my room.

During this time, I have not heard about Caliente Dance Studio yet, furthermore, even after Circuit Breaker had ended, I could not find the time to attend classes as I was working irregular shift hours. However I continued dancing at home in hopes to finally attend classes in an actual dance studio again.

I came across Caliente Dance Studio on Google and signed up for my first program in February 2021. They hold multiple classes a week which made it convenient for me to attend a class that fits my schedule. After waiting for a whole year, I can’t explain to you how excited I was when I began going for classes again. From dancing in a small space in my room to attending four classes a week and socials at the best Latin Dance Studio in Singapore is my dream come true!

What is your favourite dance class and why?

I’m obsessed with their Latin Partner Intermediate classes. I have access to unlimited classes in their 3 months program. They hold 2 different classes weekly and I learn something new in every class. I enjoy revisiting the same moves again as I can improve on my technicalities and familiarize with the indicators which come in handy during socials.

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?

Being able to express myself freely through dance and meeting new people. Dancing makes my heart full and I look forward to seeing the loveliest people every week! The Caliente culture is warm, passionate and authentic. Ever since the beginning, I don’t feel pressured or intimidated whenever I enter the dance studio.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?

Firstly, dancing improves your self-esteem and confidence. And the more you practice, the greater your confidence will be. Secondly, dancing enhances your creativity. As you progress, you will find your own style and incorporate them into your dance, making it a fun discovery for yourself too. Thirdly, it takes courage to learn something new, especially if you have no prior experience. And this applies to dancing. After your first or trial class, you’ll realise it wasn’t so bad after all! You’ll never know if you don’t try, so I highly recommend to take that leap of faith.

Which Salsa or Bachata song do you like the most?

Here are some of my favourites that will make you get up on your feet and start dancing!

Salsa - La Rebellion (Joe Arroyo) Detalles (Oscar D’León) El Swing (Andy Motañez)

Bachata - Ojala Bachata Version (Grupo Extra) Antes Que Tù (Dama) Bachata (Kay One, Cristobal)
