Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Jing Jing

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata dancer! 😍

Meet Jing Jing 🌸 a versatile solo and partner dancer who has also performed in a few mini shines showcase!

How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata in Singapore?

Well, I am so into Hispanic culture since I was a kid, I like the power, passion and the love shown in Latin dance movements. People use dance as a way to express their feelings. When the music is playing, they will just sway their bodies, which is so enthusiastic, and so different from Chinese implicit culture.

When I was a kid, I would spend hours watching Latin dance competitions and imagine that one day, I can also become a “Caliente” girl. Then, time flies, when you grow up, sometimes, life is tough and busy, you might forget the original inspiration… Last year, I just ended a 7 years relationship… it is hard, but I also have much more time to think about what I really want. I want to dance, yes, I want to learn Salsa and Bachata, which was what I wanted to do since I was a child, now it is the time, no excuses, just do it.

What is your favorite dance class and why?

I think it’s the mini shines class. Because the mini shines class combines all the steps, skills with the music, and make it feel more like a complete choreography. It is more challenging, but it is also like a test of what I have learned and the score lol. Of course, it is fun.

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?

Expression, I guess.

In Eastern Culture, actually, I think, we are not good at expressing ourselves. We might feel shy to speak about out feelings. But now, we can dance.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?

Dancing is a good training to coordinate your body movement harmoniously. Also, you can learn how to control your muscle.

It helps ladies to become more confident, elegant and sexy. For guys, in my eyes, a guy who can dance well is charming and sexy.

Which Salsa or Bachata song do you like the most?

Salsa: Si Te Vas - Marc Anthony

Bachata: Deja Vu - Prince Royce and Shakira.
