Caliente Salsa and Bachata Student Spotlight - Joaquin

Today, let us introduce to you one of our Salsa and Bachata dancer!

Meet Joaquin 😎

How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata in Singapore?

Growing up in Colombia I listened to Spanish rock and reggae, I thought Salsa was the type of music that my uncles and aunties would listen and dance to. However it's a rites of passage for Colombians to be able to dance and whilst living abroad I decided to start taking Salsa lessons. I've been dancing Salsa/Bachata for over 10 years!

What is your favorite dance class and why?

So far I'm really enjoying the Performance Team training. It's a fantastic way to learn moves because you repeat them over and over until you can do it perfectly. It's a whole different game.

What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?

Staying true to the spirit of Salsa that inherits from Latin jazz, being able to express myself on the dance floor and interpret the music however I feel.

What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?

I'm a firm believer that everyone can dance and that "I have two left feet '' is just a delusion.

Dancing is a great way to boost just physical and mental wellbeing. I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Which Salsa or Bachata song do you like the most?

Salsa - A classic from Cali, "Oiga Mire Vea" from Orquesta Guayacan
