Hi I’m Zach. I play guitar professionally for concerts/tours/weddings/events etc. I also teach how to play guitar on the side as well.
How did you get into learning Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk dance in Singapore?
I’ve always wanted to learn any form of partner dance since I was a teenager but didn’t pull through because I had different life priorities. However, the thought of “I want to learn any form of partner dance” never left the back of my head.
It was around 2 months in since live music made a comeback in Singapore and I saw Caliente Dance Studio's ad while scrolling TikTok. I remembered that thought at the back of my head, booked a trial, enjoyed it, and decided that dancing would not only be a fun hobby to have, but also that it would be a good idea to marry both (good) dancing with my musical abilities for my career.
What is your favourite dance class and why?
Definitely Bachata Partner Social Dance for me. You learn to be assertive and tender at the same time.
What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?
Everything is unscripted. You decide what you want to do when you want to do it. It’s really rewarding when you manage to nail the harder moves at the right time too.
What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa, Bachata, Kizomba and/or Zouk?
If you enjoy breaking past your comfort zone while making new friends, dancing CAN be anyone’s go to.
