How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata in Singapore?
When gym booking becomes so hard nowadays, investing time in a new skill such as dance could be a great alternative. I watched a Bachata partner dance video that was shared by a Latino friend, and it just caught my eyes instantly. I felt connected to its music and expression of emotions.
What is your favorite dance class and why?
As a dance newbie, I tried a variety of dance classes to get to know the different dance styles. I enjoyed Bachata dance class the most so far. It is sensual, rhythmic, and romantic; an ideal experience to explore together with the other half. Salsa is more challenging, the grooves and steps are energetic and effusive, full of joy and happiness. The partner dance is truly fun, it is the kind of social dance that provides the perfect chance to overcome shyness with opposite gender. It does not matter if you step on each other’s feet, what matters is the interaction during the learning process. The dance seems easy, but every single step in between of the lead and the follow comes with thousand times of “1,2,3 tap….”.
What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?
Dance is just a way beyond my expectation, it motivates me to stay active, improves my body coordination, builds confidence in body expression, it also reminds me to appreciate our body, to enjoy the simplest happiness.
What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?
Healthy lifestyle, positive vibe, meet like-minded friends. Especially the Latin dance, with the exotic culture, you might find a secret talent in you.
