How did you get into learning Salsa and Bachata dance in Singapore?
During the pandemic, I was bored and craved some human interactions. So one of my friends suggested going to a dance class in Singapore at Caliente Dance Studio. Back then I did not know anything about Bachata dance or Salsa dance, but I decided to give it a try. I liked it and decided to take the whole course on Bachata. Now I am learning Salsa as well!
What is your favourite dance class and why?
My favourite is the Salsa Partner dance class. Salsa is more energetic and less "intimate". So it is fun and I feel more relaxed when I am dancing. I like partner dance because it has human interaction, something two people work on connection together. We get to enjoy the company of someone whom we only just met in class, in a casual and stress free environment.
What do you enjoy the most about dancing Salsa and Bachata?
I like the latin music, and the vibe of the dancers in the studio, but making new friends is the part I enjoy the most.
What reasons will you give to someone to start learning how to dance Salsa and Bachata?
It would be best if you did it mainly because it's fun. Also, dancing is a form of expression. In general, it will increase your social confidence, fitness, posture and coordination. The atmosphere at Caliente is really friendly. Don't worry about making mistakes. Just jump in and dance. Other than that I would say Caliente is a good place to make new cool friends :)
